The marriage turned me into a frugal person.

Proof #1: I’m still wearing a sock in a sorry state.
My husband tells me to buy new socks, but nah, I can wear this a few more times.

Proof #2: I’m trying to use up the cosmetic products I already have for the first time in my life before purchasing new products.
I love cosmetics.  If I see the new products, I can’t resist.  I can’t help it.  So I don’t go anywhere close to make-up anymore.  Self-control.  Self-control.

Proof #3: I insulated my windows myself.
I used bubble sheets instead of window insulation film.  OK, it’s not aesthetically perfect, but I didn’t spend any money.

Proof #4: I prepare breakfast for both of us.
We used to buy apple pie or pain au chocolat for breakfast, but now I prepare breakfast for him.  Usually toast with butter and coffee, but I try to prepare something different each day.  I am a wonderful wife, and I know it.

Proof #5: I pack lunch for my husband.  He used to eat at a restaurant and spend $10 – 15 per day for lunch.  He eats healthy while we can save some bucks.  Everybody’s happy.

Proof #6:  No more “I deserve it!”
When I was working, I bought and did whatever I wanted as long as I could afford it - be it makeup or trips.  I didn’t love my job so I needed to indulge myself from time to time to motivate myself to go to work every day.  It’s simple.  No job, no self-indulgence.

Proof #7: No more “What do I want?” and “What do you want for dinner, honey?”
I rarely cooked at home before, so I used to waste a lot of groceries.  When I did cook, I always asked my husband what he wanted to eat.  This is not very smart.  He would often answer something we didn’t have in the fridge or something expensive like a good quality steak.  Or I made something I felt like eating.  This is also not smart.  Once I know what I want, I have to have it.  No compromises. Thus, I end up buying stuff.
But now, instead of consulting with my cravings or husband, I consult my fridge first and come up with dinner menu.

In terms of dinner, this is our priority:
What my husband wants < what I want < the groceries in the fridge

Proof #8 (added on January 29th): I cut my husband's hair for the first time (only around his ears though)!  He likes his "new" haircut so far.  This makes a difference because my hubby spends $56 on his haircut.
